Minimum Age: 5 years old. Guests ages 16 or under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Description:

Great for beginners of all ages, the Mygatt-Moore half day expeditions offer paleontology field work in the cool of a summer morning. Our paleontologists will make sure you have all the training and tools you need. Fossil bones of the giant Apatosaurus and the flesh-eating theropod, Allosaurus, are common in the quarry. This trip ends with a guided tour of the Paleo Lab at Dinosaur Journey. Water and Gatorade will be provided.

Difficulty: Easy. No hiking is required on this expedition, but participants should expect to be outside, in the heat and bugs, working on open, rocky ground. We will provide shade tarps.

What to Bring: Expeditioners should dress for working outdoors in summer: bring a wide-brimmed hat, sturdy closed-toed shoes or hiking boots, sunscreen, a camera, and bug spray. Long pants are recommended, but not required.

Itinerary:
8:00 AM – Orientation at Dinosaur Journey in Fruita, CO: participants will sign a health waiver at this time
8:30 AM – Depart Dinosaur Journey.
9:00 AM – Arrive at MMQ for excavations
11:30 AM – Return to Dinosaur Journey
12:00-12:30 PM – tour of Prep Lab

For a smooth registration experience, we recommend registering for one event at a time (e.g., don't add a Dino Dig and a guided hike to your cart at the same time).

We also recommend ensuring your information is correct before moving forward. Once you proceed to the next page, if you need to adjust anything you will need to start over.
