Description:

Learn how to repair and clean fossils in the paleo lab. Participants will spend a full day in the Dinosaur Journey Fossil Preparation Lab learning different techniques used to clean and repair fossil bone, from mechanical prep, to molding and casting. Our expert paleontologists will be there to show you the tools and guide you every step of the way. This is a perfect match for enthusiasts and future paleontologists alike. Individual projects may vary depending on availability in the lab.

What to Bring: Expeditioners should wear closed-toed shoes for this indoor adventure.

Itinerary:

8:00 AM – Orientation at Dinosaur Journey in Fruita, CO & Lab Tour

8:45 AM – Divide into groups for rotation through stations

9:00AM – Stations: Molding & Casting / Mechanical Prep

11:30 – Lunch in the Museum Discovery Center

12:30 PM – Stations: Paint Castings / Mechanical Prep

3:00 PM – End of day

Refund Policy

Participant Cancellations

• 14+ days before: full refund or free reschedule
• 7–14 days before: 50% refund or free reschedule
• Under 7 days / no-shows: no refund (staff, vehicles, and permits are already committed)

Museum Cancellations

For safety reasons (severe weather, air quality, site hazards, staff emergency, land access restrictions), the Museum may cancel or modify a dig/trip/tour. If the Museum cancels: full refund or free reschedule within 12 months. If the dig is cut short on-site: 50% refund if under half the dig was completed; no refund if over half was completed.

Minimum Enrollment

Dig/trip/tour require 6 paid participants. If unmet 72+ hours out, the Museum reserves the right to cancel with full refund or reschedule.

Medical/Emergency Exceptions

Reviewed on a case by case basis with documentation, full refund or reschedule regardless of timing.

Refunds will be issued to the original method of payment whenever possible.
